Working group
Humanised Mouse Core Cologne
Short description
Humanised mice carrying human genes or cells, for example, are a crucial model for disease research and drug development. Generating them and keeping them in optimal conditions requires a lot of know-how and experience. Therefore, a professional central unit with humanised mice (Humanized Mouse Core Cologne, HMCC) was set up at the University of Cologne. The facility supports the important objectives at the DZIF and is used by many scientists.
Particular emphasis is on humanised mice that carry HIV infection. This model makes it possible to effectively investigate new approaches to treatment and a cure of HIV.
