More than 400 experts from the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) and the German Society for Infectious Diseases (DGI) will meet in Munich from February 13-15, 2025 for their Joint Annual Meeting. At a press conference and throughout the meeting, you will have the opportunity to learn about current topics in infectious diseases in direct exchange with researchers.

On behalf of the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) and the German Society for Infectious Diseases (DGI), we would like to invite you to cover this year's joint Annual Meeting. We would be very pleased if you could join us for the press conference on February 13th at 9:30 a.m. In light of the growing threat of antibiotic-resistant pathogens, the theme of the press conference will be "The future of infectious diseases—new antibiotics and market incentives for innovation" (more information). The press conference will be held in German.

We will also be happy to connect you with interview partners during the conference to answer your questions. Please register at presse@dzif.de if you would like to attend the conference and email us your interview requests no later than February 12, 2025.

Brief information about the conference

The joint DGI/DZIF Annual Meeting 2025 is dedicated to innovation in infectious diseases research. The meeting provides a platform for scientists, clinicians and industry representatives to collaborate on solutions to the most pressing challenges in infectious diseases.

Topics range from research into new vaccines and therapeutics to the fight against antimicrobial resistance, and to tropical and emerging infectious diseases. Questions from clinical practice address current challenges such as post-infectious syndromes, gender-specific susceptibility, and experiences with phage therapies. Five years after the COVID-19 outbreak, lessons learned and preparations for possible future pandemics will be discussed.

The symposia, lectures, workshops and poster sessions will feature internationally renowned keynote speakers and renowned experts in their respective fields, as well as young scientists. Venue: Holiday Inn Munich City Centre, Hochstraße 3, 81669 Munich (show on Google Maps)

At the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF), more than 700 researchers from 35 institutions throughout Germany are jointly developing new approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. The aim is what is known as translation: the rapid, effective implementation of research results into clinical practice. In doing so, the DZIF is paving the way for the development of new vaccines, diagnostics and drugs for the treatment of infections. The DZIF is one of eight centers in the German Centers for Health Research (DZG) network.

The German Society for Infectiology (DGI) is the scientific society that represents the field of human infectious diseases in clinical practice and research. It sees itself as a primarily clinically oriented field, but emphasizes its interdisciplinary character as well as the relevance of infectious medicine for public health and in the context of international health.
