Detailed description
Most people become infected with Helicobacter pylori in their early childhood without noticing. The bacterium can survive the stomach’s acidic environment by producing an alkaline protective layer. It destroys the gastric mucosa and causes inflammation. The bacteria spread from one person’s mouth to another or from feces to the mouth. So far, no vaccination is available.
