NIMR-MMRC Mbeya Medical Research Center
The "Mbeya Medical Research Center" (MMRC) in Tanzania is one of eight medical research centres of the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR). The MMRC is engaged in research on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and other tropical diseases. It conducts basic research as well as clinical and epidemiological studies to evaluate new diagnostics, treatment approaches, drugs or vaccines. Within the DZIF, the MMRC runs for example clinical trials on tuberculosis vaccines and drugs together with the LMU University Hospital Munich.
The centre is one of four African Partner Institutions with which DZIF scientists already have long-standing collaborations.
