They are
RNA viruses that are mainly transmitted via contaminated hands or surfaces such as door handles. Rhinoviruses infect mucous membranes of the nose and the throat. As many different rhinoviruses exist and as they mutate regularly, as do RNA viruses in general, there is neither prophylactic vaccination so far nor an effective treatment.
