CARA

CARA stands for “Conscience of Antimicrobial Resistance Accountability”. It is an alliance supporting the “UN resolution on antimicrobial resistance”. The DZIF is one of nine founding organizations.

cccDNA

The cccDNA is a special, ring-shaped DNA structure that appears in the cell nucleus during the replication of some viruses and can persist there.

CD4 T lymphocyte

CD4 T lymphocytes form a subgroup of T lymphocytes that is responsible for cell-mediated immune responses.

Cell sorting

Cell sorting allows the enrichment of cell types of choice from a cell mixture such as blood or tissue.

Cell therapy

Cell therapy refers to the transplantation of living cells with the aim of treating diseases.

CEPI

CEPI is the acronym for “Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations”, which is the international vaccine initiative DZIF is involved with.

The clinical phase is a phase in drug development, in which the substance is tested in humans.

Co-infection

Co-infection is the simultaneous infection of a host with more than one pathogen .

Cohort

In the medical sense, a cohort is a group of patients with comparable symptoms or other similarities, which is observed over a certain period of time. The transplant cohort, a project within DZIF, provides data and biospecimen from transplant patients for studies.
