Short description
The clinical phase is a phase in drug development, in which the substance is tested in humans.

Detailed description

It follows the preclinical phase, in which, for example, toxicity of the potential drug is investigated. The clinical part is divided into three phases, which look at different aspects. At the beginning, tolerance is tested in healthy people in a “First-in-human” study. Next, the effect in patients is investigated and, finally, effectiveness and harmlessness need to be confirmed.
